So who are you anyway, and what do you do?

Craig Pisani. Accounting and Business Advisory.

I’m not a personal trainer, but I can make your figures look good.

What was your last job before getting into this?

Recruiting for Sydney Olympics and professional game show contestant (well I won a car on Wheel of Fortune).

And why did you decide to do what you do now?

The Olympics finished, the car was pretty crap and the accounting profession needed some personality.

What is it about the 60/70/80/90s that you miss most?  (Choose one)

What is the biggest challenge facing SMEs today?

I find it difficult to generalise, as I think the most difficult and critical challenges are industry specific.

Generally though, for business owners it is definitely work/life balance; with the amount of administration, price pressure, being contactable virtually 24hours a day, shrinking global marketplace and tough economic circumstances this is a constant challenge.

Can cloud software solve that challenge?  And if so, how? And if not, what can?

It can certainly help. I see the following as the three most important ways Cloud Software helps:

  • Reducing the amount of hours spend doing administration by simplifying and automating the processes;
  • Reducing the amount of time that has to be spent working in the office and unchaining people from their desks;
  • Reducing the costs of software, servers and equipment required – as well as reducing the amount of space required for staff.

If you could retire now, what would you do? Or not do?

Play allot of golf and do allot of surfing ………. First I would take some lessons to actually learn how to do both of these properly.

If you could buy anyone a drink in a bar and chat to them about anything, who would it be, what drink, and what would you talk about?

My wife, and we would chat about what drink she drinks (‘cause I really should know that) and then I’d probably forget and get her a beer.

If you could walk up to anyone, kick them in the shins and shout something at them, who would it be, and what would you shout?  Go on….get it off your chest!

The policewoman who pulled me over for speeding this morning. Smile love, it’s free and it’s the second best thing you can do with your lips …………

If you could walk up to anyone and hug them, who would it be, and why?

The policewoman who pulled me over for speeding this morning – she needed it.

What’s your favourite meat and gravy meal?

Beef Wellington

What is your greatest achievement?

Married for 10 years, with 3 happy and healthy kids. Also setting up our new accounting practice “542 Partners” with my mate and work colleague Stuart Brandman.

What do you want to achieve that you haven’t as yet?

Get 542 Partners running smoothly, by a holiday house to escape the rat-race to, and in a few year would love to walk the Kokoda Trail with my 3 sons.

What’s next for you?

Get 542 Partners running smoothly, by a holiday house to escape the rat-race to, and in a few year would love to walk the Kokoda Trail with my 3 sons.
